… because what is life without good food?

Hi, I’m Ann. I am an engineer that loves to cook, and I love to share what I cook with my friends.

Sumptuous Spoonfuls is a collection of eclectic, healthy and delicious recipes. I want food that makes my taste buds sing and my body feel good, so I take recipes and “healthify” them. I often cut the sugar and fat, but I want the result to taste so good that you can’t tell the difference. I draw from many different styles and ethnicities when I cook, and I don’t follow any rules. It doesn’t have to be “authentic” in my book … it just has to taste mouthwatering good.

Right now, I don’t have many people to cook for, so some of these creations are just “for one or two or three” … I hope you multiply and share my recipes. Or enjoy them when you have a night to yourself and you need a special treat just for you.

I am a bit of a health freak, so I try to make my recipes healthy, and I use a lot of vegetables and fresh herbs in my cooking. I keep fresh herbs in pots and bring them in in the wintertime so I have fresh herbs year round. My mom was a registered dietician before she retired, so she taught me a lot about eating that I don’t think most people know. I will try to share her wisdom with you as well.

Hey, girl! Jenny from Kitchen Psycho here. For some reason I haven’t visited your site until now! But I wanted to tell you what a wonderful support you’ve been for us, sharing our links and giving great comments and all… We deeply appreciate the love!

So you’re looking for a guest blogger. You’re welcome to read through my writing styles on http://www.kitchenpsycho.com. Typically, I write as if I’m talking directly to the reader. I try to make everything pretty light-hearted, since it’s about food, of course! And I was an English major in college, so grammar is a big deal to me.

Since it’s YOUR blog, I’d be blogging for YOU, not myself and my blog. I think that’s important to have you know. I, too, am very concerned about our environment and the quality of our food. (Watching documentaries these days has troubled me to no end, so I have to keep that down to a minimum or I would absolutely lose my mind and become an activist!) 😀

If you’re interested, let me know what you’re looking for!

  10. Hello, Kindred Spirit! I’ve been watching your little venture just blossom and bloom, and I am so impressed and inspired with what you have created here!

One of my resolutions for 2012 is to develop an actual food blog and Facebook page, instead of just posting all my recipes everywhere and bombarding people with my Pinterest. I would love for you to be my mentor! Let me know what you think, and what your consultancy fees/requirements/bartering needs are.

  17. Hi Nikki!

My name is Megan and I’m with Whimsically Homemade. Here’s just some background on us. Whimsically Homemade is a blog that my friend Emily and I started back in December. We are still relatively small, but we are working on our networking. Anyway, we’ve decided to start doing a weekly post on Fridays of our favorite finds though out the week. Your Black Bean, Corn & Avocado Confetti Pizza post made our list for this week. I was wondering if it would be okay for us to use a couple of your pictures and link back to your blog? We both really enjoy your site and it would be an honor for us to share you with what few readers we do have. Thanks for your time in advance.

Hi, What’s the best way to print out a recipe? Thanks!

    May 26, 2012 at 6:40 pm

    • Ann

      Hi Julie,

I am using a free wordpress account for my blog so I have very limited abilities to add things like a “print this recipe” button. I did find a cool way to do this though … go to http://www.printwhatyoulike.com/ and enter in the url for the post you want to print. Select the center area (where the recipe is), then click hide images. Click the Print button and preview the recipe. You will probably only need to print the first page, maybe the second. The rest will be links and comments that you probably don’t care about.

Let me know if you have any problems printing!

      Thanks for asking,

    Hi Ann,
Thank you for this recipe! I just made them, and they turned out fantastic! I used heaping amounts of spices but stuck to your recipe otherwise. I used yours because it was the only one I found on Pinterest that used the egg white. I had tried roasting some almonds and it just didn’t work well. The egg white was a great binder and makes a nice glisteny coat on the walnuts. I’m saving this one! Thank you very much!
