Chocolate Candy Cane Pretzel Kisses ~ Sumptuous Spoonfuls #easy #holiday #recipe

At the holidays, I always want to dip pretzels. I love pretzels dipped in white chocolate or dark chocolate … they are so good … but my favorite favorite favorite holiday treat is when they are dusted with crushed peppermint candy canes.

This year I discovered an even easier way to “dip” my pretzels. The little square waffle pretzels make such handy “holders” for all sorts of sweet goodness. I played with pretzels all weekend long, working to make things for the big bake sale next week. Then I made a pan of brownies too, just for good measure. After I got them all bagged up, it didn’t seem like I did that much. I have 12 brownies plus I think 38 bags full of goodies … that’s pretty good, right? I have to confess, I didn’t put all of THESE ones in the baggies. I would have had well over 40 bags full if I had. I felt like it was only fair to save a few yummies for myself.  I just gotta have peppermint this time of year!

The best part of making these is they are SO simple! I think they would be an awesome project to make with the kids. If they can line up pretzels in an orderly fashion, they can make these holiday treats.

Chocolate Candy Cane Pretzel Kisses

  • Prep Time: 15 minutes
  • Cook Time: 2 minutes
  • Total Time: 20 minutes
  • Yield: as many as you like!

Ingredients

  • Square waffle style pretzels
  • Chocolate candy melts
  • Hershey’s Peppermint Candy Cane Kisses, unwrapped
  • Crushed peppermint candy cane “dust” (that fine powder you get when you crush candy canes)

Instructions

  1. Preheat the oven to 350 F. Set a silicone baking mat on a baking sheet (or cover with nonstick parchment paper).
  2. Arrange the pretzels on the mat right next to each other. Set a candy melt on each pretzel. Set the baking sheet in the oven for 2 minutes. This is just enough time to melt the chocolate.
  3. Remove from the oven and set a candy cane kiss on each chocolate, pushing down a little to make sure the chocolate oozes into the pretzel. Dust with candy cane powder. Let the candies cool until the chocolate is set, then store in an airtight container.

What are chocolate melts? Is is a certain type of candy? I want to make these today for a party but I’m confused on what to buy and yours look like dark chocolate from picture? I love dark, so is that what you used?

Hi Cherise,

They are like large chocolate chips that are made for melting … Ghirardelli, Wilton and even Hershey’s make them. For the ones here, I used the Wilton Dark Cocoa melts and they worked really well. The Ghirardelli ones are wonderful too.

Thanks for asking!

Ann

Does anyone know where to find these square pretzels? Have not been able to find them in a few years.
