Small Batch Bourbon Raspberry Fig Jam ~ Sumptuous Spoonfuls #easy #nocanning #jam #recipe

A beautiful bright red figgy berry jam with no pectin or canning required …

The very first time I ever purchased fresh figs in my life happened a few weeks ago and it was VERY spur of the moment. I was at Costco … one of my friends had found these lovely fruits at Costco a couple years ago (or was it last year? I can’t recall, exactly) and gave me some of hers, so I knew how wonderful fresh figs could be. At that time, I didn’t have a Costco membership. This marvelous-ness that is Costco has only recently entered my life … and ever since I joined, I have been entranced by the place. Every time I walk in, I see nothing but good things and it makes me a bit giddy.

So it happened to be one of those giddy days when I was just SO happy to be shopping at Costco … and then I saw them! Fresh figs! I threw them into the cart without even a thought as to when I would have time to do anything with them or even checking to see that the figs were good. Having never purchased figs before, I had no clue what to look for … My precious figs sat on my counter for days while we lived our busy lives around them, and by the time I got time to take a look at my beautiful figs, most of them were not so beautiful … in fact, they did not look so good. I was horribly distraught that I’d betrayed my beautiful figs and desperate to find something to save the few I had left and make them into something presentable.

Simultaneously, I also realized that the fresh raspberries my parents had given me were starting to go bad as well … (at this point, I was definitely chastising myself for wasting these treasures.)

Jam! That’s what I need to make … I didn’t have much time … and I definitely did NOT have enough figs or raspberries to make a full batch of jam and can it. I needed a “small batch” recipe, so I went looking … and chanced across this recipe from Flavor the Moments. It looked like a good base for my little batch of jam, so I tweaked and changed it to fit the amount of fruit I had, changed up some of the ingredients to my liking, and turned out two little half-pint jars of raspberry fig jam, just the right amount for me to enjoy/play with, but not so much that it would go bad in my fridge before I used it.
