Toffee Chocolate Mashup Bars ~ Sumptuous Spoonfuls 7-Layer #chocolate #PB #7Layer #Bars

Cousin to the traditional 7-layer bar, these mashup bars have a chocolate crust, topped with toffee bits, chocolate and peanut butter chips, oats, peanut butter, chocolate and caramel syrup, crunchy salty peanuts and sweetened condensed milk to stick it all together.

It’s almost Thanksgiving and guess what? I’m not baking up any pumpkin pie. I’m bringing THESE bars for dessert this  year. They are decadent and chocolate and crunchy and chewy, sweet and salty. In short, ooey gooey deliciousness. My son, the software programmer, named them mashup bars because they are a mixture of soooo many things … in case you’re not into software development, here’s the definition of mashup:

mashup. A mixture of content or elements. For example, an application that was built from routines from multiple sources or a Web site that combines content and/or scripts from multiple sources is said to be a mashup.

I didn’t think he’d eat them because he doesn’t usually like anything with nuts in it, but I was surprised to find that he loved them!

Honestly, I didn’t make them for him, though. I made them for ME. If I’m going to indulge, I like to do it right and I really really love chocolate and peanut butter. This, to me, is the ultimate indulgence. I cut the bars small because they are really rich. Then I get my little bit of indulgence and I don’t feel like I totally abandoned my fitness goals.
