Maple Bacon Green Beans Almondine

Ingredients

  • About 1 lb. fresh green beans, trimmed
  • 2 slices lower-fat bacon, chopped into bits
  • 2 spring onions (with greens), chopped
  • 1/4 cup sliced almonds
  • A dash of garlic powder
  • Red Robin Seasoning & fresh ground pepper
  • 1 Tablespoon real maple syrup


Instructions

  1. Start a bot of water boiling. Prep the green beans by trimming off the ends. Put them in the boiling water.
  2. In a large saute pan over medium heat, saute the bacon.until it starts to get crispy, then add the onions and saute until they are nice and soft, about 4 – 5 minutes.
  3. About now, the green beans should be crisp and just starting to turn tender (about 90% cooked). Use tongs to remove the beans from the water and put them in the saute pan. Add the almonds. Saute, stirring constantly, until the beans are perfectly tender. While you are saute-ing, sprinkle with garlic powder, Red Robin Seasoning and pepper.
  4. Put in a serving bowl and drizzle with maple syrup. Serve immediately.
