Buttery Belgian Waffles for a Vertical Waffle Maker #weekends #waffles

Maple Strawberry Chocolate Chip Waffles

Ingredients

Scale
  • 1 1/2 cups all-purpose flour
  • 1 teaspoon baking powder
  • 1/2 teaspoon salt
  • 2 eggs
  • 1 cup milk
  • 1/4 cup butter, melted
  • 12 teaspoons vanilla
  • 1/41/2 cup quality mini chocolate chips
  • Fresh strawberries
  • Real maple syrup

Instructions

  1. Plug in your waffle iron to heat it.
  2. In a medium mixing bowl, stir together the flour, baking powder and salt.
  3. Separate the eggs, putting the yolk in with the flour mixture and the white in another small mixing bowl.
  4. Using an electric mixer, beat the egg whites until stiff. Set them aside.
  5. Now, add the milk, butter and vanilla to the flour mixture and stir until smooth. Fold in the egg whites, then gently stir in the chocolate chips, adjusting the amount of chocolate to suit your taste.
  6. Spray the waffle iron with cooking spray, then pour the batter into the waffle iron. Close the iron and cook until the waffle is a nice golden brown. Repeat until the batter is gone.
  7. Serve the waffle topped with fresh, sliced strawberries and drizzle with a bit of maple syrup. If you like, sprinkle a little powdered sugar on top too.
