Frozen Cantaloupe Peach Margaritas ~ The taste of summer in a delightful fruity frozen margarita that's surprisingly creamy.

Frozen chunks of sweet garden-fresh cantaloupe with a splash of peach brandy make the dreamiest margaritas, perfect for chilling out on a hot summer day. Cantaloupe has a lovely creamy texture when blended that makes an absolute DIVINE margarita. Of course, you could toss in a few peach chunks as well if you are so inclined. I only had frozen cantaloupe on hand, so I stuck with that.

Funny thing is I made this cocktail last fall quite a while after my dad harvested all the lovely sweet cantaloupe from his garden. He always has so many sweet, delightful cantaloupe that we just can’t eat them all … so I froze some cantaloupe chunks for using later in smoothies and cocktails and I made myself this dreamy frozen margarita that tasted oh SO good. But I figured nobody really wants a frozen margarita when you’re coming up on pumpkin season, so I took some pics and let them sit on my camera SD card, wrote up the recipe and left it waiting for the summertime … and THEN I almost forgot to post it! But luckily I was looking back at my pics the other day and I stumbled across the margarita shots and thought it is HIGH TIME to share this frozen delight with you, my sweet foodie friends.

Just looking at these pictures makes me long for sweet garden cantaloupe, but things are late this year. The spring was cold and rainy and we might not even have cantaloupe until well into autumn. Ah well, we will cherish them when they come.

How to freeze the cantaloupe?

You’ll want to seek out the sweetest cantaloupe you can find to make these margaritas, scrape out the seeds, cut off the rind, then chop the melon into chunks and then freeze on a tray lined with a silicon baking mat. Once the melon chunks are frozen, put them in a sealed bag and squeeze out as much of the air from the bag as possible before sealing. Pull them out of the freezer when you’re ready to make your margaritas.

Savor the last bits of summer with this lovely frozen cocktail … or any of the other lovely summer cocktails listed at the end of this post!

Frozen Cantaloupe Peach Margaritas

  • Prep Time: 5 minutes
  • Total Time: 5 minutes
  • Yield: 1 serving 1x

Ingredients

Scale
  • Per serving:
  • 1 cup frozen cantaloupe chunks
  • 1 oz. tequila
  • 1 oz. peach brandy (or peach schnapps)
  • 1 oz. lime juice
  • 2 oz. orange juice
  • Agave or honey, to taste
  • For garnish: cantaloupe chunks, fresh lime slices, sprigs of fresh mint, edible flowers

Instructions

  1. Put all ingredients except the agave in a blender cup (use a small smoothie-size blender cup for single serving) and blend until smooth and no chunks remain. Taste and add agave or honey to your liking, then blend a bit longer.
  2. If you want to rim your glasses, rub the edge of the glass with lime and pour raw or crystallized sugar on a plate. Set the glass onto the sugared plate, rolling around a bit if necessary to coat all the edges.
  3. Pour the frozen margarita(s) into the glass(es), garnish as desired and enjoy!
